Salmon cross flooded road much to dog's delight
- In Mason County, Wash., the salmon aren't just swimming upstream—they're also swimming across the street. Due to heavy rains, local rivers are flooding and the confused fish are winding up in some strange places.

And that's just fine with at least one local dog. The pooch, who must be thinking that Christmas came early, wanders into the road, snags a salmon like he's at a lunch buffet and trots off down the road. No work necessary.

Of course, this sort of thing has happened before. Last year, KOMO, a Seattle news site, posted a clip of salmon struggling to cross a flooded road. Fortunately, those fish didn't have to deal with hungry dogs. ( The Sideshow )

Fox News blames live airing of suicide on "severe human error" - Fox News apologized for a "severe human error" that resulted in viewers seeing a suspected carjacker fatally shoot himself after a police chase.

The coverage of the Friday incident, which sparked outrage on social media and a quick on-air apology by anchor Shepard Smith, showed a man stumbling from an allegedly stolen car into the desert near Phoenix on Friday.

As a camera in a helicopter provided live coverage, the man s topped a short distance away, pulled the trigger of a gun pointed to the right side of his head and crumpled face-forward into the ground.

"We took every precaution to avoid any such live incident by putting the helicopter pictures on a five-second delay," said Michael Clemente, Fox's executive vice president for news editorial.

"Unfortunately, this mistake was the result of a severe human error and we apologize for what viewers ultimately saw on the screen," he said in a statement issued on Friday.

The Phoenix police department on Saturday identified the man as Jodon F. Romero, 33. Authorities said he fired at officers and a police helicopter at one point during the pursuit, and died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. In a statement, the department said Romero had a prior history of numerous violent crimes. At the time of his death, he was believed to be wanted on at least one warrant for felony parole violation on a weapons charge, and may have been sought on a second warrant. ( Reuters )

Surfing goats make waves

http://media.klewtv.com/images/120713_surfing_goats_660.jpg

Surfing goats make waves - It's official -- the goats of California are definitely the coolest in the country. These two from Southern California, Goatee and Pismo, fit the bill: The goats have taken to surfing with their owner, Dana McGregor, who takes the pets everywhere--even into the Pacific Ocean.

The goat whisperer told the Associated Press he "taught his goats to surf because he loves to ride the waves and thought they would like it, too."

The video shows beachgoers watching as the four-legged creatures catch waves on a calm day at San Onofre State Beach. Pismo and Goatee even ride tandem on the board. In another run, McGregor shares the board with one of the goats and a two-legged friend as the three catch a wave.

The famously sturdy legs of the animals certainly seem to be a natural for gnarly surf: The two goats hang loose--but not quite hang 10--and keep their balance as they ride.

McGregor, who originally acquired the nanny goat Goatee to eat unwanted plants on his property, began taking the goat to the beach with him, and eventually got her up on the board. Pismo has been a surfer goat for almost as long as he's been alive. He was born in March. ( The Sideshow )
